During battles, you have to dodge ships any way that you can. There are three different methods depending on what round of shops the enemy fires at you. When the game goes to an overhead shot, you have to dodge forward and back. Wait until the white line is right over your ship to dodge in either direction.

Otherwise, you’ll swipe and tap a la Fruit Ninja. You have to swipe the cannonballs, tap the barrels and ignore the boxes. Finally, the spider shot will enable you to instantly end an enemy’s turn. To use it, tap the spider shot button, then swipe your finger across the 1-2-3 that pops up on the screen, and the enemy’s turn will end and all of their shots will be blocked.

To get the most accurate shots in on an enemy, wait until they stop moving or time where they are moving to, so that your cannonballs hit them. With the gun, even if they don’t have a target over them, use it anyways, but once the red target appears, aim at the target to do a massive amount of damage, and usually to kill them instantly.

Racing is fairly simply to do. All that you have to do is set three sheets to the wind (one or two will be too slow), adjust your view to be as close to right behind the ship as possible (for maximum steering accuracy), and aim for the goal location. If you keep losing, use speed-ups. If you still lose, then buy power ups to make the ship faster. This same technique also works for when you have to retrieve an item for someone.

To explore an area as quickly as possible, sail into the clouds and the clouds will clear. If you look very closely you can see who all is in the clouds, so you will be able to sail around enemy ships and tasks before you are ready for them, even if the area is covered by clouds.

Recruit as many crew members as you can. With each new crew member comes new perks that you can earn and equip for your ship, and the more perks, the more advantages. You’ll unlock more perk slots and more crew members to hire in the tavern each time that you gain an experience level.
