High platforms and low platforms have different requirements for this, so the timing is never the same from one level to the next.

You play as four different slimes, each with ten different levels. The green slime levels (the first ten) are arguably the hardest in the game, because he has a short jump. The red slime levels are easier because the red slime has a longer jump. The blue slime has the longest jump of all, and most of its levels can be beaten on the first try. The purple slime is much faster than the others and has a short jump like the green slime, so the last ten levels can be rather difficult.
Many levels have multiple paths that you can take, some consisting of higher platforms and some consisting of lower platforms. Try to stay on the highest platforms if at all possible, because these will allow you to make jumps without having to deal with the ceiling spikes, which are one of the biggest killers in the game. Of course, disregard this when the platform has a spike on it.
If you hold your finger on the screen, your slime will auto-jump. This makes it far easier to pass close range jumps, so hold on the screen when you have a series of short jumps. Also, hold your finger on the screen while your slime is dropping through the air, and your slime will bounce as soon as it hits the next platform.
Just rememeber that despite the name of the game, none of the levels are impossible to beat. Once you beat them the first time, they will usually seem quite easy afterwards, since you now know what to do in order to beat them.
