Dan the Man – Tips and Tricks Guide: Hints, Cheats, and Strategies

Dan the Man is a new side-scrolling beat-em-up platformer by Halfbrick Studios for the iOS and Android platforms. You play as Dan or Josie, two 80s-style action heroes who run through levels, beating up bad guys and using various weapons in order to advance as far as you can. You can earn coins and unlock new moves and weapons as you go. Read on for some tips and tricks for Dan the Man!

You can earn plenty of coins in each level, but if you want to earn them more quickly, go to the coins store in between levels, and you can watch a video in exchange for 200 free coins. Do this as many times as you want in order to load up on quick coins the easy way.

Sometimes your character’s attack will be disabled for seemingly no reason in the middle of a level. As far as I can tell this is a glitch, but even though it seems insurmountable, you can still succeed without an attack. Run up to an enemy and hold against them to grab them, then tap in a direction to throw them, doing 20 damage. You can also still use any projectile weapons you have racked up.

Break all of the jars and boxes you see in order to score the most weapons and coins. However, if you are trying to speed-run a level, you can skip all of the jars and boxes. You can also skip any enemy as long as you aren’t required to defeat them before going to the next level. Some enemies, though, will be unskippable, so you’ll have to kill them.

When you collect ammo for your knives, guns, shurikens and other projectiles, it will carry over until you make it to the next level. If you get stuck on a level due to lack of ammo, go back to an old stage to load up on ammo, and don’t use it. Save it for the tougher level that you are stuck on.

Bronze coins give you one coin, silver gives you two, and gold gives you five. Backtrack and jump alongside walls in order to earn secret items, usually gold coins. You can sometimes find secret food this way. Food gives you some of your health back, so if you lose health, get it. You won’t be able to collect it if you have full health, but if you lose health, you can backtrack for it if you need to.
