Later in the game, you’ll unlock the “Rush” ability. Rush enables you to “rush” through a battle that you have already played before in order to very quickly earn cubits and experience points. Ignore this feature until you’re ready to shut the game off for the night, because it will drain your battle supply (AKA: your energy) quickly if you use it often. However, you can earn TONS of experience points and cubits, so use it if you’re stuck on the story due to not being at a high enough level.

To add more members to your fleet, you need to increase your rank, and to do that, you need to get more prestige. Get more prestige by fighting in the boss battles. Also, check the debris areas that appear after these battles, because these are great sources for prestige.

You can then fill the extra spaces by getting new commanders from the Celestial Portal, which again, you unlock as you play through the single player story mode. Lepton will allow you to recruit standard commanders while Quark allows you to unlock rare commanders. Don’t be in such a hurry to get a commander that you waste your lepton – convert it to quark so that later on, you can have a rare commander (and eventually, a whole fleet of them).

As you play through the game you’ll unlock the research center, where you can spend tech points for new research. Upgrade this building as high as you can, as soon as you can, and spend your tech points doing massive amounts of research, because this is the biggest bang for the buck that you’ll get when it comes to strengthening your fleet – even moreso than the individual enhancements that you do.

However, you will be able to power up a TON by evolving the parts of your ships. Do this by first, earning plans for the specific part (they can be earned in the special battles in the Conservatory), then going to the “Evolution” screen and looking for the applicable part on any ship. Assuming you are at the right player level (for example, level 20 for the first evolution and level 30 for the second evolution), you’ll be able to evolve the part, which will massively increase its power, and cut its experience level in half, which will allow you to enhance it even further.
