Battling is the other thing you’ll be doing much of in this game. Unlike questing, battling consumes stamina, rather than energy; therefore, battling is an excellent way to earn gold and experience points whenever you run out of energy. Tap the battle button and you will be shown another player’s party. You can hit “next” to move on to a different player, or “battle” to choose to battle that player’s party.

Before you do, a good indicator of how you fare in the battle is found by hitting the “question mark” next to that player’s name. Do this and you’ll see all of their characters’ experience levels, as well as your own. This doesn’t take the rarity of their heroes into account, so look at the coin and trophy rewards too. The lower the rewards, the less powerful their party is, and the higher the rewards, the more powerful their party is.
Once you choose to battle, the battle takes place in the exact same manner as a quest battle does. In other words, it happens automatically, you can double-speed it, and heroes attack in order from fastest to slowest. If you win, you’ll win trophies and increase your rank, and if you lose, you lose trophies and decrease rank. The weaker they are, the less trophies you win and the more trophies you can lose, and vice versa for if they are stronger.
Tap on the “trophy” icon or tap on your “History” button to see who the top fifty players in the game are, as organized by number of trophies, as well as what your rank is relative to the global collection of players. There are no rewards for that right now, but when events start popping up after the game itself has hard-launched (right now it’s in soft launch mode), expect prizes to come with having a certain amount of trophies and/or rank.
Powering up your cards is done in many ways, primarily gaining experience points through battles. To get new heroes you can go and purchase card packs. Go to the store for this. Heroes are either common, uncommon, rare, epic or legendary. Recruit card packs mostly earn common cards, but they have a chance at earning you every tier but legendary. Warrior packs, which are the most expensive gold-buyable pack, earn uncommon and above. Champion packs, which cost gems, earn rare and above. Ultimate packs, which cost real life money, earn epic or legendary cards. The rarer the card, the more powerful it will be.
