How to play Clash of Clans for iPhone: FAQ, Walkthrough and Beginner’s Guide

Welcome to the beginner’s guide to Clash of Clans! If you are brand new to this game or to this style of gameplay, or you just have some questions that you have been wondering about, then this guide is for you. Clash of Clans is one of the most addicting battle strategy games on the iPhone, or on any device. It’s simple to begin, yet it gets very difficult as you continue on. Read on for the beginner’s guide to Clash of Clans!

As you begin the tutorial, you are introduced to a bit of a storyline, but there really isn’t much of a story beyond that in Clash of Clans. Your first goals are to build the town hall, which is the center point of your base, and then after that it’s mostly up to you. The shop tab is where you make almost all of your purchases for your town.

There are three types of buildings in the shop tab. Under Resources you will find buildings that generate and store both elixirs and gold, which are your two main forms of currency in the game. Under Army you will find the Barracks, which will allow you to train new troops, the army camp, which lets you store troops until they are ready for battle, and the laboratory, which allows you to upgrade your troops. Under defenses you will find various defensive stations and towers which automatically attack other players’ units when they attack your town, or bombs and walls which block other players from getting to your buildings.

The other tabs are shield (which allows you to be protected from enemy attacks), treasure (which allows you to buy Gems, the premium currency in the game, or to spend Gems on buying more elixirs and gold), and decorations, which look cool but don’t really do anything aside from giving other players something else to destroy.
