How to play Rivals At War for iOS and Android, part 2: FAQ and Beginner’s Guide

Back in part 1 of the Rivals at War beginner’s guide, we talked about the basics of battle and the types of battles that you can engage in, but in order to do well in battle, you have to be good at managing your team of soldiers, so read on to find out how to do just that.

You have six soldiers in your team at any given time. One of them is the team commander, and the others are of various positions – radiomen, snipers, breachers and medics. Breachers can be unlocked at rank 2 and snipers can be unlocked at rank 10, so therefore, it stands to reason that these are the two most powerful ranks, in general, but the main indicator of effectiveness is each individual’s score, and by extension, the team score.

The score of each player is found by adding their stats together (accuracy, defense, damage, speed and health) and averaging them out, and the team score is found by adding the players’ scores together and averaging them out. Different positions can also give each other bonuses by being teamed together, so it’s best to have all four types of soldiers in your active team at any given time.

You can buy many different types of card packs, from standard to bronze and silver, and then elite, using either coins or bucks. More powerful player cards are the best bonuses that you can earn, but others include such things as tactics cards, skill increase cards, uniforms, tours of duty, patches, and adding brand new skills.

Each of your cards has a limited number of tours of duty. When the soldier runs out, their stats will be cut in half, which will drag down your total team score until you supply the player with a tour of duty card. Skill increase cards will increase one of your stats, while uniforms and patches are purely cosmetic.

More intricacies of the battle system, as well as tips, in part 3 of the Rivals At War beginner’s guide.
