Pokémon GO – Advanced Tips, Cheats, Hints, Tricks and Strategy Guide

Pokémon GO has had a good opportunity to practically take over the world in just the few short days that it has been on the App Store, and as it gets more and more popular, people are discovering more and more interesting things about it. There is a nearly endless number of ways to enhance your gameplay. Read on for some advanced tips and tricks in Pokémon GO!

You can get free coins by becoming a trainer at a gym. If your team controls the gym, all you have to do is leave a Pokémon there to defend it, and every 20 hours, you will earn 10 coins. You can earn these daily bonuses for up to ten gyms. Anything beyond that is just gravy.

Gaining experience levels brings you all kinds of bonuses. In addition to the free items that you get, you also get higher instances of Great Balls, Ultra Balls, and the coveted Master Ball. Plus, when you encounter Pokémon, they will generally be at a higher CP level than they were when you were at a lower experience level.

At the beginning of the game, you have a choice of the three starters from the original games, Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle. If you walk away from them instead of engaging with them, they will reappear, but keep walking away from them. After a good few times walking away, Pikachu will appear instead. Catch Pikachu and it will become your starter Pokemon instead.

When throwing a Pokéball, put a curve on it before you throw it, by swiping a the ball in a circle at high speed to get it to spin. If you successfully catch a Pokémon with a curved ball, you’ll get an extra experience bonus. Also, when the colored circle appears inside of the white circle, shrink it to its lowest possible size in order to get an experience bonus and have a higher chance of catching the Pokémon you’re going to throw it at.

If there is a crowded area or event going on in your city, there are likely to be people dropping Lure Modules onto the nearest Pokéspots. The more people are in an area, the more likely a lure is to have been dropped on a spot. Go there if you want to get a ton of Pokémon to come to you, but you don’t want to use up any of your own Incense or Lures on trying to attract Pokémon.
