Temple Run 2 for iOS and Android: How to get more coins and gems

Temple Run 2 is the sequel to one of the most popular games in the history of the Apple and Android app stores, and there is absolutely no reason why any fan of the first game should be disappointed in the second one. There are two forms of currency in this game, both echoing the game that came before it. Coins are the primary currency while gems are the premium currency, and coins buy you good stuff like power ups and upgrades while gems allow you to continue a stage where you left off. Read on for tips on how to get more of both!

The main way to get more coins is, obviously, to go as far as you can in each stage. The further you go, the more chances you have to get coins, therefore, generally, the more coins that you earn, but that’s so obvious it isn’t even worth saying. In addition, you have three missions to complete at the beginning of each stage, so complete these missions as quickly as possible and, each time you gain an experience level, you will earn a huge bonus in coins.

Buy some smart upgrades to help you earn more coins as well. The smartest one that you can buy is the coin value upgrade. The first one makes 2x coins (red coins) appear after 1,500 meters, and the second one makes them appear after 1,000 meters. The third, fourth, and fifth one, in addition to the 2x coins after 1,000, make 3x coins appear after 3,000, 2,500 or 2,000 meters, so they are not really worth what it costs to do the upgrade unless you happen to go very far every time that you play.

Other upgrades can help indirectly, as well, such as increasing the duration of the coin magnets or the boost distance, and increasing the “pickup spawn”, so that you get power ups more often. If you have a whole lot of coins to waste, reducing the “Save Me” gem price by 1 is an excellent one, especially if you reduce it 2 or 3 times and thus get a few really cheap save-mes. This can even make the more advanced coin value multipliers more worth it.

To get more gems, as stated above, get farther in the stage, and you’re more likely to find them as pickups spawning on the stage. Buy the pickup spawn power up to make pickups appear more often, thereby making gems appear more often. Or simply buy them through the app store.
