Collect six or seven blue potions to enable the super drill, which sends you down three rows in the dungeon, allowing you to plow through and rapidly collect both coins and ingredients.

The quickest way to do that is to go to the date and time settings on your phone when you run out of energy, and set your time to about half an hour to an hour head to restore all of your energy. You can do this as many times as you want in order to play indefinitely.
To maximize what you collect, when you are in a level and you have items in two spaces next to each other, tap to the left or right immediately after collecting one coin or item to collect the coin or item right next to it. This is especially good for earning blue potions, potentially allowing you to rack up more super drills.
Crafting is the main way to get more more good new items, or even old items that you want to have in order to use more frequently. Always be sure to try to get new ingredients when you are playing. You can take as little as one new ingredient to the experiment station in order to see what it combines with, including possibly new items that you have just caught, so that you can make an item.
