Ace Fishing: Wild Catch Cheats and Tips: The Strategy Guide, Page 2

-Know the use of each piece of equipment that you can get. First off is the fishing rod. Upgrading your fishing rod does one main thing: deals more damage to the fish as you battle it, jerk, pull the rod back, etc etc. Check the damage statistics before you equip a rod to make sure that it’s the one that does the most damage.
-The reel also increases the damage done to the fish, same as the rod does. This, just like the rod, also has secondary characteristics, but the damage is the most important part.

-The lures do something totally different. Just by equipping a better lure, you get a higher chance at a big fish (good for setting records among your friends) and at a rare fish (good for finding 3, 4, and 5-star fish, and the boss fish). They are location-specific, so make sure you equip the right one for your current location.
-Fishing lines have two main statistics. They enable a line to support more tension (making it tougher to break your line) and the more expensive lines are longer, allowing to let your fish get a longer distance away while you battle it. This gives you more time in all of the battles.

-Boosters all do their own things, and are self-explanatory.
-Make sure to buy the good lures and the good lines together, and to equip them together. Don’t use one without the other, because if you only use a premium lure, you’ll end up losing fish easily, and if you only use a premium line, all of that extra line strength will be wasted on weak fish.

-Better yet, save them for the fishing tournament if you plan on entering, since the better you do in this tournament, the more coins and cash you have a shot at winning.
-If you want to get some quick free cash, register for a Com2us account (this also enables you to play the game with friends).

-Check the mailbox often; every once in awhile you’ll get sent bonuses, sometimes for completing quests and sometimes for doing absolutely nothing.
-Check the milestones window in the menu screen to earn prizes for completing milestones (this is a good source of treasure chest keys and for cash).

-Check the events page to see what current events are going on. The more you participate in the limited-edition events, the higher your potential rewards will be (these can include cash, treasure chest keys, and rare equipment that would normally be prohibitively expensive in the store menu).
-Check your Fish Book List in the menu area. There are various collections of fish, and as you complete them, you’ll earn special rewards there, too, which also includes rare equipment and keys.
