Asphalt Xtreme is a new off-road racing game and an offshoot of the long-running Asphalt series for the iOS and Android platforms. You get to choose from a variety of off-road machines, from Land Rovers to sand rails and dune buggies, and race through terrain ranging from desert to forest. You can collect credits and tokens and use them to purchase new vehicles and to upgrade the ones that you already have. Read on for some tips and tricks for Asphalt Xtreme!
Each upgrade requires credits to do, but in order to be able to fit the upgrade to the car, you need specific tech cards. A good source of the tech cards is boxes, which you can get for free every four hours. Set the notifications so that you can come back as soon as a box is ready. Tech cards are also earned by running races, whether they’re new races or ones that you have already competed in.
The default control mode of Asphalt Xtreme is tilt, but go to the options and you can change the controls. Tap to steer allows you to steer by touching the left and right sides of the screen, and is generally easier to control than the tilting portion. On-screen controls gives you a steering wheel, which is a little bit more difficult to use. You can also add manual acceleration buttons to the tilt side, allowing you to let off the pedal whenever you need to in order to make a good turn, or heel-toe the gas and brake at the same time.
As you progress through the game you will be able to unlock limited-time events when you earn enough stars. These allow you to compete against other players for big rewards. You can also unlock the mastery series by owning up to three vehicles. These races allow you to win tokens, which are the premium currency of the game, in addition to credits; however, they’re more difficult to beat.
If you want to earn free tokens, go to the main menu of the game, because a video offer will appear. If it does, tap it and watch the video and when the video is complete, you will earn three free tokens as a reward. You have to be in an area with a good internet connection in order to do this, so that the video will load once you hit the button. If your connection is bad enough, the button might not even appear.
Smart use of the nitro can make or break a race. If you are entering an area with a slight turn, stick to one nitro at a time. However, if you enter a large straightaway, use all of the nitros at the same time for maximum boost. Smashing into another car while you have the nitro boost can knock them out of a race as well.
