Crossy Road Castle is the smash-hit sequel to the original Crossy Road, this one being a pure Apple Arcade exclusive. The gameplay is like Mario Bros, but with hundreds of levels in random order, with all sorts of obstacles, enemies, and even bosses to beat.
You can collect tokens, green gems, unlock hidden characters, and more in this game. Read on for a tips and tricks guide (and guide to all of the hot topics and frequently asked questions) in Crossy Road Castle!
Coins and Tokens are the two currencies in this game, which both have different uses. Being an Apple Arcade game and not a freemium game, there is no option to purchase any one of them for real-life money. Instead, you have to manually collect them when you see them.
Coins can be used to purchase new hats for 1,000 apiece, which are purely cosmetic, but most importantly, you can spend 100 of them to buy an extra life in the middle of a run.
All that you have to do is come to a room that features a heart machine, stand on the platform until 100 coins drain out of your collection, then a heart pops out. Then pick up the heart to restore a lost heart in your health emter.
If you need more than one heart, you can buy two or three hearts off of the same machine. If you don’t need any hearts, then all that you have to do is skip the machine and go on to the next room.

Unlock New Characters
Coins might unlock new hats, but the Token gacha unlocks entirely new characters for 100 tokens a pop. All you have to do is drop 100 tokens in and see which of the new characters pops out.
The more characters you have unlocked, the more likely you are to get a repeat character out of the gacha, although you are far less likely to get a repeat than in previous Crossy games. If you run out of new characters to unlock, wait for a future update by Hipster Whale.
Beat the Bosses
Every once in awhile you’ll come across a boss character, typically the large eagle boss. The bosses show up randomly, but you’ll generally see the first one between levels 20 and 40.
With each of the bosses, the attacks follow a pattern (usually feathers and eggs launched at you), so be ready to move quickly and watch the pattern to know how to avoid the attack.
In between attacks, float up on the rainbow pathway and run into the boss. Do this three times and you’ll win the boss battle and move onto the next room.
Unlock Hidden Secret Characters
This being a Crossy Road game, it couldn’t exist without hidden characters. Crossy Road Castle doesn’t disappoint in this regard.
The hidden secret character is the Prince, and the Prince is fairly straightforward to unlock. All that you have to do is collect all five of the Green Gems (not in the same game, just overall). Once you do that, you get the Prince.
Get All The Green Gems
Green Gems all have secret locations, but they’re not THAT tough to find. Some floors have a green door that you can go through in addition to the normal door, and if you go through the green door, you’ll go to a room that has a green gem.
If a room has multiple doors, you’ll usually know because you’ll see a sign that there are multiple paths to take right at the beginning. If you see this, take the path that seems more difficult, longer, or less obvious to get to the green door.
Once you are inside, complete the given room’s challenge to get the green gem. You’ll have to jump just right for it, guess the right path to take in a multi-path room, or aim your cannon blindly in the right direction to shoot for it.
If you get the green gem, then you have it for good. If you don’t get it, then you’ll be able to try again next time you go through the same green door.
Once you get all five of the green gems, you will unlock The Prince.
