In Darkness Rises, you get a choice between two types of quests in the adventure mode. Either you can play the quest yourself, or you can pick Sequential Mission, which plays automatically and auto-completes the quests, and then automatically moves onto the next level. Sequential missions will be sufficient for awhile, but then you’ll hit a wall. Once you stop winning every battle, switch to the manual mode and use evasion tactics to avoid damage on the toughest parts of the quest, especially the boss battles. Hit-and-run tactics will beat almost every boss.

Head back to the main menu once in awhile and look for any menu button that has a red dot next to it. The red dot means that an upgrade is available, whether it’s new equipment, enhancing equipment, or prizes to claim, depending on what the menu button is. Hit anything that has a red dot next to it, and claim what you can until there are no more red dots available.

When you’re playing manual mode in any of the levels, smash every barrel and box that you can find. It can be hard to aim at times as the AI wants to automatically aim your attacks at enemies, but position yourself so that the boxes and barrels are in the same direction that enemies are, so that you can break them and earn what’s inside.

There’s a bit of a dress-up element to the game as well. Want to see what your character would look like in other outfits besides the ones that you already own? Go to the items menu, then the grimoire sub-menu, and tap on the greyed-out equipment that you haven’t earned yet. While you won’t be able to equip it, you will be able to see what your character looks like in it.

Hit the blacksmith for all kinds of fusions, crafting, and other goodies. If you want to level up the blacksmith, hit the craft polish area and you’ll see the option. As long as you have enough gold, you’ll be able to level up the blacksmith, which will allow you to unlock different recipes and fusions.
