DERE EVIL EXE: Top Tips, Walkthrough, Cheats, and Strategy Guide

DERE EVIL EXE is a new horror platformer for the iOS and Android platforms. This game busts holes in the fourth wall, bringing pixel art reminiscent of a stylized version of the NES, chip tunes and PlayStation-style melodies interchanging depending on mood, and a developer that’s lost control of her own game. Read on for some tips and tricks for DERE EVIL EXE!

The first thing to know in this game is that you need to watch out for coins. Unlike almost every other platformer in the universe, you do NOT want coins; in fact, they’ll kill you if you collect them, so steer clear of them. Also, don’t try to jump on enemies like in Mario. You do that and you’ll just die and your run will end.

The gravestones are your checkpoints. If you die on a level, you’ll pick back up from wherever your last gravestone was, so be sure to collect all of them that you see – all of them except one, which is the one that the dev directly tells you not to grab. Play with the sound on or else you’ll miss the dev’s voice and her hints. (WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD AFTER THIS PARAGRAPH)

You have to think outside of the box for many of the solutions to puzzles. Level 3 is when the difficulty really starts ramping up. At the part of the stage when the dev and Yanna are arguing, with buzzsaws across the bottom, hit the pause button to let a large block fall down that you can climb across.

After you beat level four, you’ll first go to the limbo room, then to the deep room, where you will meet the final boss. Shoot the final boss with the gun wheel that the dev gives you until she’s deleted (takes about 50-70 shots). Once you pass the deep room, you’ll end up in the core, which is essentially the lead-up to the end of the game, with no real battles or challenges.

After you beat a level, you can start it right back over again, either from the last given grave stone or all the way back from the beginning. To start from the last grave stone, just hit the resume button, and to begin from the beginning, hit the reset button.
