The latest update to the game has added candies, which are a form of currency. You can purchase candies if you want to in the new in-app purchase store, or get them for free simply by collecting them as you play Don’t Touch The Spikes. Even though it doesn’t seem like much, aim for them and they will add up faster than you’ll expect them to. Plus, candies almost never pop up in front of spikes, so follow the candies to find the safe space on the wall to hit.
With candies, you can buy new birds. They start off cheap, costing just 10 candies, but as you go down the list, they get very expensive, at up to 2,500 candies for the most expensive bird. Ignore all of the cheap birds if you want to concentrate on the most expensive one, as there is no performance boost to any of the birds. Just keep collecting candies.
Want to play the game the old fashioned way? Go to the candy store and hit the “disable candies” button and they won’t show up. It’s still better to keep them around even if you don’t plan on spending them, simply because they give you something else to focus on besides what your current score is, which ironically makes it much easier to earn a maximum score.
Wanna be one of those cheaters who hacks the game? It’s surprisingly fairly easy to hack Don’t Touch The Spikes for a sky high score. Just go into the code of the game using iExplorer, File Explorer or something similar (but with a PC connected to your iOS device). You’ll be able to find hex code to control the properties of the spikes on the walls, or how many spikes appear. You should also be able to find the high score settings, so you can just set the score to whatever ridiculous number you want.
You don’t need to jailbreak your phone to do hacks like this; however, you will need to jailbreak your phone if you want to do hacks similar to this right from your phone or tablet itself.
Now, also, if you do not want to play with ads but you don’t want to shut off your data, you can purchase the “no ads” option right in the game itself. This will make the ads go away forever, and if you delete the game and you want to bring it back later, you can hit the “restore no ads purchase” option in the IAP store and it will use your Game Center data to verify you and make ads go away once again.
