The controls to the game are easy to figure out, but as you advance into later stages, they can be hard to master. You can choose the direction, then cast out at a varying power level, depending on where you stop the bar.

Fish will be swimming around to begin with, but you want to aim your lure into the middle of where the fish are at in order to increase your chances of catching one. As you become more advanced, you’ll learn to target specific fish, so cast into the area where the unknown or quest-specific fish are swimming by their silhouettes.

When a fish bites, hit the red button to pull them in. If they fight hard, watch out so that your line doesn’t break. Let off a bit to let the tension bar go down, then pull again.

Of course, tap the left and right buttons not just to aim your cast, but to jerk fish to the left and right. You won’t need to do this early on, but you will need to do this more as you start aiming to catch tougher and tougher fish.

Complete the quests that your friends and friends-to-be give you. Friends are a ticket to easy coins, so catch they fish that they want you to catch, and they will reward you with what you want.

Sometimes, you just need to grind to catch fish to earn coins. In these cases, try to complete the given quests, but if you catch a familiar fish that has nothing to do with the quests, go with it anyways; you’ll earn more coins this way.

Take your coins and spend them in the upgrade store. You can buy throw, charm, line strength, and more. Hit the question mark icon to find out what everything does. Try to keep your upgrades even, so that you have the best chance at catching more and better fish, and bigger fish as well.
