If you want to load up on free gems, there is a very easy way to do so. Go to the gems store. You’ll see a character with shades slide out slowly from behind the store building. Tap on the two Facebook buttons and the two Twitter buttons and you will collect five gems apiece. You’ll also earn free gems from completing quests and from the chests.
You can own multiple animals in this game as in with the other games, but whereas it was purely cosmetic in the past, there is a practical purpose in this game. Enable one of your owned animals and then equip your desired attacks. This attack loadout will stay with your animal, and with each other animal, you will be able to pick a different attack loadout. This is most useful for quick changes in strategy.
Make wise use of your sliding ability when you’re in the middle of the race. Hitting the down button doesn’t just cause you to slide. If you are in midair, it causes you to rapidly drop to the ground and slam down, allowing you to break through breakaway platforms and to catch speed strips that you would have otherwise flown clear over. Use this to catch item boxes that you would have otherwise missed, as well.
Coins are mainly used for purchasing new outfits, which have no practical purpose, instead being purely cosmetic. Scroll over to the power-ups portion of the store in order to find the practical-use items. Equip them and they will be able to pop out of treasure boxes in the next few races that you play.
Arena mode is hugely competitive, and if you are too far behind at a specific checkpoint, you will be eliminated before the race is even done. If you get eliminated too early, then you will earn no prizes, but if you make it to the end of the race, you will win prizes even if you are not one of the winning racers. If you get eliminated early, you can leave early instead of sticking around to watch the end of the race for the results.
