Hello Stars is a new game for the iOS and Android platforms where you draw lines to create a path for a rolling ball, so that the ball can roll into the star at the end of the level. Your goal is to make it through every level, amass countless stars and coins, and complete all kinds of daily challenges. Read on for some tips and tricks for Hello Stars!
The difference between earning one star and earning three stars is in the total number of lines drawn and in the total amount of ink used. Keep an eye on the ink bar at the top of the screen. If you go under 66 percent of the ink used, you only get two stars. If you go under 33 percent of the ink, you only get one star. Use more than 66%, and you get all three stars.
One way to easily figure out how to get three stars if you need more to progress is, at the victory screen, to scroll all the way down to the bottom to see the best solutions from players who have recorded their games. The best solution is the one that uses the smallest possible amount of ink, so use these as a cheat sheet, especially if you’re having trouble earning more than one or two stars on a stage.
Challenges are a completely different animal than the normal levels are. In the challenge, your goal is simply to pass, not to get three stars as there are no star ratings. At the beginning of the level, you’ll see a flyover of the entire level. Pay attention to it and look for obstacles, so that you can make a plan to build lines to get around said obstacles before you get there.
If your phone has a zoom function, take advantage of it. On iPhones, the zoom function is located under the Accessibility tab underneath Settings, and has several different levels of zoom. Pick one that’s not too zoomed in, but that’s big enough so that you can draw straighter lines, saving you precious bits of ink and helping to more accurately draw lines in rough levels.

You can unlock both new balls and new ink with coins, and coins come about in numerous ways. You can watch videos after a number of stages that you beat in order to earn 240 coins. Often, scratchers or a spin-the-wheel game will pop up, as well. These present a bit more of a coin risk, but a far higher coin reward, as well.
