5) Purchase card packs liberally to power up your team.
Every card pack can give you uncommon and rare cards, but some have better chances than others. Recruit packs give you uncommons every so often, while warrior packs give uncommon cards at minimum and sometimes rare cards. Champion packs guarantee a rare, while special Ultimate Packs will give you epic cards. Epic and Legendary cards can even show up in the Warrior and Champion packs, depending on your luck.

4) Organize your team wisely.
Choose where to put your party members based on what bonuses you want them to have. Back row members will get higher chances at critical hits, while front row members will get a health boost. Add more heroes who attack multiple enemies at a time in order to get an edge against larger parties.

3) Use your runes wisely.
You will come across runes in the game as you go. Use the runes only when you have full stamina and energy (so that you can get the most use of them as possible) and put every battle on double speed. Save the stat boost runes for tough sets of battles, while using the exp and gold boost runes on easy, winnable battles so that not one battle is wasted.

2) Consume cards for extra critical and stat boosts.
The experience point boosts are fairly small, but the critical hit boosts are a surprisingly effective boost that can push you over the edge in tough battles. This also makes it easier to get lucky in battle and defeat enemies that are giving you an extra hard time.

1) Collect and save your free Gems.
You can get free gems from things such as unlocking a new map, mastering a level or even sending an SMS invite to a friend through the game itself (or even sending it to yourself). Save them up for whatever your purposes, whether they be for buying a Champion card pack or for restoring your energy and stamina so that you can keep playing for as long as you want to.
