Icy Ropes is a new endless platform-jumping game for the iOS and Android platforms. You play as a duo of climbers (or of other unlocked characters), and your goal is to get as far as you can, rack up a high score, collect coins, and unlock new characters. Wait until one character is fully landed on a platform before jumping again, so that your other character will jump off when you hit the screen next time. Jump too quickly and your front character will do a second jump instead. If your back character slides off, though, jump with your front character and try to make it to the next platform. Keep doing this and if you are continuously successful, then eventually the rear character will end up regaining its footing.
Coins can be collected throughout the round, but there are quicker ways to earn them. Tap to play and if you see a little golden creature to the left of your back character, tap it and a video ad will start to play. Once the ad is done, you will receive a batch of free coins. These little creatures can earn you up to 100 coins at a time.
Once you have 50 coins, you will be able to open a mystery box containing a random set of characters. All of these characters have the same set of traits, so all that changes is the appearance of them. There are loads of characters to collect, some of which are more rare than others. The only ones not available from the mystery box are the dragons, which you can purchase using an in-app purchase.
Another bonus of purchasing the dragons is that all of the ads in the game will go away. Ads pop up VERY frequently, so they can get a little bit annoying. If you want to minimize the ads that pop up, then your best bet is to turn the device that you play on into airplane mode and then play it. No data will go to your phone, so no ads can show. The downside is that you can’t watch ads for coins if you do this.

Head to the character select screen and scroll around and you will find some characters that are not available to win in the mystery box. The only way to win them is to download some of the other games made by the same manufacturer. The link will be right below the characters and once you complete the download, they will become available for play.
