Idle Zombies is a new idle zombie-shooting game for the iOS and Android platforms that puts an endless, incremental spin onto the tower defense genre. It looks like a tower defense shooter, but in reality, you have unlimited lives, and your actual goal is to earn as much money and do as many upgrades as possible. You start off with two slots in your weapon column; the one on the left side is your tap shot and the one on the right side is the auto-fire shot. All of the other weapon slots that are available for unlock will also be auto-fire weapons. With very few exceptions, whenever you unlock a new one, the new one will become by far your most powerful auto-fire weapon.

When you’re fighting a boss, you have to beat them within the prescribed amount of time, or else you’ll have to start the battle over. When you’re fighting against regular enemies, though, even though the screen will constantly turn red and flash “warning”, you’ll never actually lose or die. It will just take awhile for your guns to get rid of the zombies.

You can play the game without an internet connection, but if you do have a connection you can watch an ad video whenever you come back from being offline for awhile to get 5x the offline income. But more importantly, you can also get steel (which is necessary for weapon upgrades) and free gold (the premium currency of the game) by catching air drops and watching the video to get the reward. Once you upgrade a weapon, you can then watch ad videos to get free upgrades on it, five at a time.

All sorts of other cool weapons exist in this game, too. Special weapons allow you to prestige and restart from the beginning but with a bigger reward. Bomb weapons allow you to unleash special, massive attacks on bosses, but keep them upgraded or they’ll end up being useless if you neglect them for awhile. Buffs give you temporary boosts in income in exchange for ad videos or small in-app purchases.

One of the best uses for your gold is to make your dogs auto-work and earn you money without you having to do anything. To do this, unlock one or more Dogs in the Dog House, spend gems for them to auto-work, and then upgrade them as high as you can, making sure to hit levels 10, 25, 50, and 100 for multipliers. Go back and collect the massive load of boxes that they pick up in order to make a giant amount of money.
