Lord of the Guardians – Tips and Tricks Guide: Hints, Cheats and Strategies

Lord of the Guardians is a new hybrid of real time strategy and city building for the iPhone and iPad. It’s a bit of a Clash of Clans-alike, in that there is the same dynamic of earning your resources (Gold Dust and Essence, as well as Gems), unlocking new troops, and using them to do battle both in single player campaigns and against other players. Read on for some tips and tricks for Lord of the Guardians!

You start off the game with a beginner protection shield on, so use this time to build up your kingdom as much as possible. Upgrading the Hall of Life should be first priority, so build and upgrade your resource collectors to make this happen, as well as your storages. The faster that you upgrade, the more of a head start that you’ll get on battles.

Battling against other players is a numbers game first and foremost, so you will want to maximize your number of army forts and upgrade each one to the highest level that is practical early on. Sending in a flood of gladiators (your initial troop) can win a surprisingly high number of battles. Unlock more and better troops by upgrading your training sheds as well. Thieves are great for battles where you’re only after resources and not trophies.

Lady Rangers are the basic long range attacker and can also be sent in in massive quantities. Their best use is to upgrade your training shed to level 4 and train some crushers, because they automatically target other players’ defenses, then train loads of lady rangers. Send the crushers in first, then the lady rangers while the crushers distract the defenses. Or better yet, mix lady rangers with thieves, about half-and-half, behind the crushers, since they both target different buildings. Ka-booms are great for knocking out walls, too, and are unlocked at training shed level 5.

For the best defensive practices, make sure to wall off your hall of life (since that’s the main thing other players go for) and build your defenses close to it. Put your essence, rainbow essence and gold dust storages as close as possible to your hall of life and your defenses, since this is also what other players target, and as you level up, wall off both the resource collectors and defenses. Leave the less important stuff outside of the walls, and enemy troops will tend to target that, while getting raked by the defenses inside of the walls.

Want a ton of free crystals? Clear out any debris that is inside of your territory, such as fossils and toadstools for a chance at free gems. Focus on completing both missions and achievements, as they will earn you free crystals. Check back in every day even if you don’t plan to play, since if you do this for 30 days straight, you’ll earn massive crystal bonuses. Spend them on buying new Fairy’s Nests so that you can build up your city much faster, and permanently too.
