Ookujira is a wacky new game for the iOS and Android platforms where you play as a giant whale who jumps out of the water and smashes buildings in a city. Your goal is to try to go as far as you can, smash as many buildings as you can, and terrorize the citizens of the city. The mechanics of the game are a little bit tough to figure out at first. You can double-jump without hitting anything on the ground, but after two jumps, you’re out of jumps. If you bump into the top of a building, then you can jump twice again, so it’s in your best interest to bump into buildings, whether you smash them or not.
You can smash a building by hitting the dive button, which looks like a down arrow on the bottom portion of the screen. When the arrow is grayed out, then you can’t hit it and pounce on top of the building. When you smash it from a high enough altitude, you’ll smash it all the way down to the ground.
Diamonds are mainly collected from the main game itself, but from the menu screen you can often find video offers to earn more of them. You can double any diamonds that you earn in the main level. Also, you can watch a video from the main menu to earn a free 100 diamonds.
When you earn diamonds, go to the shop area and see what you can spend them on. When you unlock a power-up, you’ll be able to collect it and use its bonus. The cheapest one is the Hyper Jump, which gives you a hypersonic speed boost, but there are a total of eight of them.
One of the best power-ups that you can earn is the large whale boost. This allows you to smash buildings without even using the dive button. All that you have to do is land on the building and you’ll smash it. Take advantage of this for as long as possible to smash as many buildings as possible. When you smash buildings, you will earn stars gradually, and when you earn stars fully, you’ll be able to unlock more levels.
