SPY SHOTS: 2014 Renault Clio 5-door Concept

Pictured here is a mysterious concept car in the Renault design studio that has had absolutely zero information released about it so far, but is set to make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, along with a slew of other Renault design concepts that will be debuting there.

So, what exactly is this C-segment vehicle? A concept 5-door version of the upcoming Renault Clio, that’s what it is. It was photographed outside of the Renault design studio alongside concept version of the new Frendzy as well as the concept versions of the new Captur and Space-R, both of which made their debuts at the Geneva Motor Show.

Judging by the size of the car, it appears to be more of a C segment competitor than a B segment car, around the size of the Ford Focus, the Opel Astra, the Honda Civic, and the Volkswagen Golf, and in France, and this could very well be an effort by Renault to target the Citroen DS4.

Still no details yet as far as what kind of engines, drivetrain, or transmissions or other such mechanicals will be available for this car, but certainly a 1.6 liter gasoline-powered Nissan sourced engine will be one of the options, as this is the European market. A number of diesel engine options should be available as well.

Considering that this concept appears to be show ready, my money is on that this one will be revealed in more detail once the Frankfurt Motor Show comes around in just under a week. Until then, though, we have to look from afar and imagine this one on the roads of France, seeing as we’re never getting this in the USA, unless Renault decides to either rebadge it as a Nissan or to make a comeback in the American market. Mexico should certainly get this car once it comes out, though, so you might see some cross the border into California or Texas.
