Build a Gold Mine in your island whenever you get the chance. Gold Mines unlock at level 10 and they earn you 1 free crystal every 10 hours. The Gold Mine can store up to three crystals at one time before you collect from it, so be sure to check it often.
The Crystal Titan costs 300 crystals to purchase, but despite the expensive price it does almost the same thing as the Gold Mine. The only difference between the Gold Mine and the Crystal Titan is that it earns you one crystal every 8 hours, not one every 10 hours. Still, though, be sure to collect from it often, if you even decide to purchase it (it would take 100 days to break even on your investment if you do decide to buy this one)

Always be sure to check the events page, too. Events will come and go, because they only happen for a limited time, and many of the events can and will earn you free crystals as a reward.
For example, one of the current events is the soccer ball collection. If you collect 70 soccer balls (they drop in dungeons) you will earn 100 crystals, and if you collect 100 soccer balls you will earn 150 crystals. Also, you will get crystals as a reward for gaining experience levels 5, 10, and 15, and for winning specific numbers of battles in the arena. This is just an example of what the current events are – chances are, if you are reading this, the events will have changed.
Finally, you can purchase crystals in the cash shop. There are multiple crystal packages, with the biggest one being 2400 for 100 dollars, and the smallest being 7 crystals for 3 dollars. Sales often happen as well – for example, the 99 dollar package is currently worth an extra 600 crystals for a total of 3,000. If you want to purchase some crystals and throw some money towards the developers as a way of saying thanks for making a good game, you can knock out both of those here.
