Survival is the key in this, just like in PUBG and the others, and, before that, in The Hunger Games. That means stay away from getting into the fray early on in the round. Let the fast-charging players shoot each other. Meanwhile, stay in the shadows, run around, and collect all of the weapons and equipment that you can so that you can prepare for later battles.

Houses are a great hiding place, but if you are not careful, you can end up getting ambushed. Conversely, look for other players who have hidden inside of houses. Oftentimes they get careless and stay near the door, waiting to get a shot off or just not paying attention to their phones, so fire at the doors of houses, especially if you have an explosive weapon like a rocket launcher.

If you kill another player, they will drop all of their weapons. You can steal them all, but you won’t be able to hold them all, and you’ll have to leave some of them behind, so you can use the weapons as bait. Hide out by the area where they dropped, wait for another player to show up, and then blow them away.

The chests are great if you are into character customization, but if you aren’t, then you can ignore them. Chests contain cosmetics, which allow you to change the appearance of your character. Hit the cosmetics area and you can pick a parachute, a melee skin, a number of different sprays, an outfit, and a set of emojis. You can send out emojis in battle as a taunt or just for fun.
