Angry Birds AR: Isle of Pigs is the super-advanced new iOS game that fuses Angry Birds with Augmented Reality via ARKit, as well as gives fans the 3D Angry Birds that they’ve been waiting for for years. Your goal is to knock off the pigs, as usual, but in a fully-3D environment.

Much to the pleasure of many, as well, this game dispenses with Angry Birds 2’s random bird mechanic and gives you a set batch of birds for every individual level.

The first step to doing the best that you can in every level is to get set up in an area where you can move around. One you set the level, you can move yourself and your phone around to view the phone from literally every possible angle.

So if you want the best possible advantage, make sure that there is clear space all around your level. You will be able to look for a much better angle this way.

Your goal just like in the original Angry Birds games is to knock down the structures and knock out all of the pigs using the fewest birds possible, but the 3D aspect adds a new touch of strategy. Move around so that you can aim not only for one support beam, but to try to hit the support beam behind it as well.

You can either blast your bird through the front one to hit the back one, or you can try to knock one beam into another. Or, you can aim for the TNT boxes to make a blast all the way around.

The higher the score, the more coins you finish with. Each new star that you earn on a level wins you one coin. Once you beat a level, you’ll also have the option to watch a video ad in order to earn an additional coin.

The coins are used for only one thing in this game, which is to unlock a new world faster. Picnic Point, Rusty Ruins, Porky Palace, and Frosty Hideout are the four levels. The more coins a level costs, the harder it’s going to be in general.

Once you lose at a stage, you will be able to watch an ad video in order to restart the level from where you left off with one extra bird. The bird will be a clone of whatever the last bird is that you fired.

The birds that are featured in this game are the originals from the first game. Red, as before, has no special abilities, but will blast through like a cannonball. Chuck (the yellow one) has super speed. Bomb drops a bomb on the level.

The Blues split into three for a multi-tiered attack when you tap the screen. Expect more and more of them as you get further into the game and as Rovio continues to add updates.

Don’t be afraid to take unusual angles when you are shooting. You can stand right over the top of the pigs’ structure. Or you can lay down on your stomach like a soldier, aim your phone, and stare into the side of it. You can come at it from any side and angle; in many cases, you will have to in order to have success and earn all three stars.

There is currently no Android version of the game, and there is none planned… publically. Expect an Android version eventually, though, as Google has its ARCore functionality embedded into newer Android devices.
