Black Desert Mobile: Family Name Guide, How To Change It For Free and How To Use on Multiple Platforms

Black Desert Mobile, for the iOS and Android platforms, has some unique features that other MMORPGs don’t have, and will make you wonder why nobody ever thought of that before. For example, many games don’t acknowledge any sort of synergy between multiple characters created on a server.

Black Desert Mobile, on the other hand, invites you to choose a family name, which is a common surname to all of the characters that you create on one server. For example, if you choose the surname Thorazine, all your characters will now have the last name Thorazine, at least on that one server.

Each character will have their own first name, then the family name will apply to their last name. So if your first character is named Ben Dover, you can name another character Eileen, and she will become Eileen Dover.

One way to change the name of your character is by paying 400 pearls. That’s around $10 in real life money, but you do get free pearls around the game, so if you save up 400 Pearls without spending money, you can change your Family Name for free.

You can change your Family Name on the same server for free if you are playing on a guest account. Just delete the game and then reinstall it. Then you will be able to pick a new family name again.

The catch with this one, though, is that you will lose all of your progress and characters if you do this, so if you have any sort of real time spent in the game, then don’t do this. Do this if you don’t care about losing your progress or not.

Of course, you can use another family name if you decide to switch servers and use a different server. But there will be no kind of synergy or Black Spirit level transfer between your characters on one server and your characters on another server.

So the bottom line is, make sure that you pick the surname that you want the first time that you use it.

As far as using the family name on multiple platforms, first, pick one platform to play the game on, iOS or Android platform. Then make your account and choose a family name.

Once you do that, tether your account in whatever way you choose to do. You can do Facebook, LINE, many other options, or you can simply do it through the game itself. But don’t use Google Play or Game Center, because they are not compatible with each other.

Now, if you switch phones from Android to iPhone or vice versa, play on an Android phone and an iPad with the same account, or if you want to play on Bluestacks, you can use the same account for everything. All that you have to do is load up your account through your chosen method of account linking.

When you do this, remember what server you were on originally. Make sure to pick the same server again, or your characters won’t show up, even if you link your account. Of course, they won’t be lost for good; they will show up as soon as you switch back to the right server.
