Stupid Test! (iOS/Android): All Answers and Solutions for All Levels and Stages

Stupid Test, by Leigh Be/Buzido, is one of the original trick question games for the iOS and Android platforms. You have 600 questions over a span of 30 levels, with each level containing 20 questions that are randomized, but questions never spill over into another level.

Level 1

A cat had three kittens, January, March, and May. If it had a fourth kitten, what would its name be? July (odd number months)

Lee’s parents immigrated from China. Four of the kids are La, Le, Li, and Lo. The fifth is Lee (read the question carefully)

How many months have 28 days? 12.

How much water is in an empty glass that is 10cm high and 5cm in diameter? 0mL (glass is empty)

If there are 8 apples and you take away six, how many apples do you have? Six.

You’re in third place in a race. If you pass the second place person, you will be in second place.

What letter comes next? M, A, M, J, J, A, S, O, _? N (first letter of months)

If I drink I die, if I eat, I’m fine. What am I? Water.

If you divide 20 by 1/2 and add 30, what do you get? Seventy. 20/0.5 = 40, 40+30=70

If a plane crashes on the border between US and Mexico, where do they bury the survivors? Nowhere (there are no survivors)

If a red house is made from red bricks and a blue house is made of blue bricks, what is a greenhouse made from? Glass.

How many cheeks do you have? Four.

Anmol decided to give his bike three coats of paint. What coat would go on the first? The answer is the second.

What is light as a feather, but even the strongest man can’t hold it for more than a few minutes? His breath.

If a doctor gives you five pills and tells you to take one straight away and one every half hour after, how long would it be before all of the pills have been taken? Two hours.

Get 1,000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1,000, now add 30. Now dd 1,000, now add 20. Now add 1,000, then 10. The answer is 4,100.

John digs a hole that is 2 yards wide, 3 yards long, and 1 yard deep. How many cubic yards of dirt are needed to fill the hole? Six.

A farmer had 15 sheep, and all but eight died. How many are left? Eight.

How many 5mm slices of bread can be cut from a loaf that is 30cm long? 60 (30cm=300mm, and 300/5=60)

If it took eight men ten hours to build a wall, how long would it take four men to build it? Twenty hours.

Level 2:

A sandcastle was built in ten days using 50 people. How may would it take to build the same sandcastle by hand in 20 days? 25 people.

How many sides does a rhombus have? 4.

What letter comes next in the sequence? M, V, E, M, J, S, U, _? N (the letters are the first letter of each planet in the solar system)

What has one eye but can’t see? A needle.

What animal doesn’t belong? A gibbon (name doesn’t begin with M)

A bat and ball cost $1.10. The bat costs one dollar more than the ball. The ball costs 5 cents.

Ten copycats were sitting in a boat. One jumped out. How many are left? 0.

How could the 22 and 24th presidents have the same parents, but weren’t brothers? They were the same person.

On my way to the fair, I saw 7 jugglers and a bear leaving. Every juggler had 6 cats, every cat had 5 rats, every rat had 4 houses, every house had 3 mice, every mouse had 2 lice. How many in all are going to the fair? 1 (the narrator only; the rest are leaving the fair, not going to it)

There are 16 oranges. You take 6, Peter takes 4, and Ryan takes 3. How many oranges do you have? 6.

True or False, a fish can travel through water faster at 5ºc than -5ºc? False, fish can’t swim in frozen water.

Which scenario has the best possibility? Flip 5 tails in a row.

Which country from group A belongs in group B? A = Australia, France, Great Britain, Japan, B = United States, China, Korea, Norway. The answer is France (group A drives on the left, group B drives on the right)

Before Mt. Everest was discovered, what was the highest mountain in the world? Mt. Everest.

There was an airplane crash and every single person died, but two people survived. How is this possible? The survivors were married.

If there are 12 fish in a pond and half of them drown, how many are left? 12 (the dead ones are still in the pond)

An electric train is moving north at 100mph and a wind is blowing west at 10mph. What way does the smoke blow? There is no smoke.

Add 10 to 30. Divide that number by one-fifth. The answer is 200 (40/0.2 is 200)

What is bigger when it is upside down? The number 6.

In baseball, how many outs are there in an inning? Six (three outs per half inning)

Level 3:

If fives times four is twenty-three, what will the fourth of 20 be? 8 1/4

I am sitting at a table. Ten flies are on the table. With one swat I kill three flies. How many flies are left at the table? 3 (the other 7 flew away)

How many types of animals do I have if all but 3 are pigs, all but 3 are cats, all but 3 are dogs, and all but 3 are cows? 4 (one of each)

How can you throw a tennis ball so that after traveling a short distance, it stops and returns following the same path? Toss it straight up.

I always sit in the same pew at church, the third from the front and seventh from the back. Each pew seats 5 people on each side of the center aisle. What is the total capacity of the church? 90.

There are three sisters, the eldest comes home once every five days, the middle sister every four days, an the youngest every three days. In how many days will they meet? 60.

How many of each kind of animal did Moses take on the ark? Zero (Noah did, not Moses)

How much is four times one half of three sixths of one? One.

What number can you split in half and leave nothing? 8, cut it in half and it becomes 0.

A man started a business with a capital of $2,000 and increased his wealth by 50% every three years. After 18 years he had $22781.25.

Two people are in the barn and ten cats follow them in. How many feet are in the barn? 4 (cats have paws)

Mr. and Mrs. Smith have seven daughters. If each daughter has a brother, how many kids do they have? 8, there is a total of one brother.

A man is walking at night at a steady pace. When he passes a street lamp his shadow grows longer. The shadow is the same rate as walking speed.

A murderer was sentenced to death and has to choose between three rooms. Between raging fires, lions that haven’t eaten in three years, and assassins, he should choose the lions, who are dead from starvation.

A fisherman caught a fish and said it was 30cm plus half its length. The fish is 60cm long.

The words follow a logical progression: Sphinx, Listen, Talion. The next word is Iodine.

I drove 60km at 60 km/hour, and another 60km at 30 kph. My average speed over 120km was 37.5 kph.

What weighs more? 60 kilograms of cement (equals 132 pounds)

How many tickets with different points of origination and destination can be sold on a bus line that travels a loop of 25 stops? 600.

Level 4:

If three cats kill three rats in three minutes, how long would it take 100 cats to kill 100 rats? Also three minutes.

If you had only one batch and you entered s dark room containing an oil lamp, newspaper, and kindling wood, light the match first.

The steel ball would travel faster through 25 degree Celsius than -5°C water, because the -5 water would be frozen.

What comes next in the sequence? 1, 5, 3, 11, 17, 23, __? The answer is 15.

A little girl kicks a soccer ball. It goes 10 feet then comes back. How is this possible? Gravity.

If you were to spell out the numbers in full, how far would you have to go until you found the letter A? 1,000 (thousand).

Which doesn’t belong with the others: Googles, Jeans, Shoes, Tweezers? Shoes because they come in a pair (others are singular)

What goes down but never goes up? Rain.

What comes next in the sequence? 1, 2, 5, 14, 41, ___? The answer is 122.

A rooster laid an egg on top of a barn roof. Which way did it roll? It didn’t roll.

A is the father of B, but B is not the son of A. That’s possible because B is a daughter.

The sum of David, Bob, and Jim’s combined ages are 34. David is 3 years older than Jim and Bob is 5 years younger than Jim. How old is David? David is 15.

What’s the next Roman numeral in the series: MMMXCVI, CCLVI, MXXIV, LXIV, CCLVI? The answer is XVI.

A box is full with 9 ears. A mouse takes 3 ears out of the box through a small hole once per day. How many days does it take the mouse to remove all the ears? 9 days because the mouse has two ears, so only one of the ears is the one inside the box.

A 10 foot rope ladder hangs over the side of a boat with the bottom rung on the surface of the water (ocean). The rungs are one foot apart and the tide goes up at a rate of one inch every two hours. How long will it be until the rungs are covered? Never, the ladder is hooked to the boat.

What is the sum of days in a week, months in a year, and hours in a day? 7+12+24=43

What is the next prime number after 1933? 1949.

A man dressed in black is walking down a country lane. Suddenly, a large black car without any lights on comes around the corner and screeches to a halt. How did the car know he was there? It was daytime.

Level 5:

If a drink and a sandwich cost $12.00 and the sandwich costs $8.00 more than the drink, how much does the drink cost? $2.00

Name the most recent year in which New Year’s Day will come before Christmas Day? “This year” because January 1st comes before Dec 25th.

What goes up and down but remains in the same place? Stairs.

Larry’s father has four sons named Tim, Tom, Tony, and Kim. What’s the name of the fifth son? Larry.

Imagine you are in a sinking row boat surrounded by sharks. How would you survive? Stop imagining.

A truck driver is going down a one way street the wrong way and passes at least ten policemen. Why is he not caught? He was walking.

What goes up and never comes down? Age.

How can you lift an elephant with one hand? Elephants don’t have arms.

What has a head and a tail, but no body? A coin.

What is heavier, 100 pounds of rocks or 100 pounds of feathers? Neither (same weight, 100 pounds)

Is it possible for a man to marry his widow’s sister? It is impossible.

A boat and trailer cost $15,000. The boat costs 12,000 more than the trailer. How much does the trailer cost? $1,500.

What stands up, but grows down? Candle.

What three letter word changes a girl into a woman? Age

There is an Apple tree on a cliff. If the wind is blowing 100 mph east, where would the apple fall? Down.

Level 7:

Which animal from group A belongs in group B? Group A = giraffe, lion, puma, chameleon, group B = Shark, Crocodile, Frog, Swan. The answer is Chameleon, which is not a mammal.

A cowboy rode to an inn on Fridays. He stayed two nights and left on Friday. How could that be? Friday was a horse.

How do you walk on water? Freeze it.

How old is the sun in our solar system? 4.6e9 years.

What can you never eat for breakfast? Dinner.

Exactly how many minutes is it before seven o clock, if 40 minutes ago it was 3 times as many minutes past two o clock? 65.

I asked the assistant in the hardware store “How much will one hundred cost?” “Twenty cents,” she replied. “And how much will twelve cost? I asked. “Forty cents”, she replied. “Ok, I’ll take one hundred and twelve.” How much did I pay? 60 cents.

The average age of 10 members of a committee is the same as it was 4 years ago, because an old member has been replaced by a young member. How much younger is the new member? 40.

Which is the odd one out? 4377, 9831, 3954, 9862, 8454? 9862 (all the rest equal out to 21 when you add the individual numbers together)

A woman shoots her husband. She then puts him underwater for five minutes. Finally, she hangs him. 5 minutes later, they both go and enjoy a nice dinner. How is this possible? She is a photographer.

What comes next in the sequence? 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, __? 100 (next number without T)

My grandson is about as many days as my daughter in weeks, and my grandson is as many months as I am in years. My grandson, my daughter, and I together are 120 years. Can you tell me my age in years? 72.
