A trick that can earn you free money fast – a cheat, in fact – is to set the time ahead on your phone or tablet immediately after you collect cash from all of your buildings. Setting it ahead by 10 minutes or so should do for anything aside from long-term buildings like the Laundry Center, but even for those you won’t have to set it all that far ahead.

Once you do that, go to the game and collect all of the cash. Then set the time ahead again, collect cash again, set it ahead again, collect again, etc. Keep on doing this for as long as you want. The more buildings that you have, the more income that you can make while you’re doing this.
There is just one catch, though. When you set the time back to normal, you will be thrown in jail for the total amount of time that you cheated in the game. That means no income. So when you do this trick, set the time back to normal before you’re about to go to bed, or put the phone down for some other reason for a long period of time. Then when you wake up, check the phone again.
Minimize the threat level by buying buildings that actually decrease it, such as the community center. This will allow you to buy higher threat buildings (which usually lead to faster money for active players of the game) without actually having threat levels as high as they could be, thus letting you make money without having to lose time and money from convictions.
Sell some of your old buildings if you want cash. You’ll get back somewhere around 1/3 of the cash that you spent for them, more if you’ve upgraded them.
The one other way to earn cash is to buy it. You can buy cash in the store, to the tune of one million cash for 5 bucks. Of course, you can buy crystals here too but they are far more expensive.
