Welcome to the beginner’s guide to Bolt! for the iPhone and the iPod Touch. Bolt is a side scrolling auto runner starring Usain Bolt, the top track runner in the world as of this year’s Olympic games. You play as Usain Bolt as he runs away from a band of pirates in the Caribbean who are trying to take him down after he took their treasure. Read on for the beginner’s guide to Bolt!
Bolt is pretty simple and straightforward, like most auto running games. You have to avoid the obstacles and try to run the longest distance that you possibly can. The running is done automatically. However, there are a couple moves that you can use to avoid obstacles and pirates.
One of them is the regular jump. Simply swipe up on the screen to make Bolt do a regular jump. Swipe up twice in quick succession to get him to do a double jump, which will take him twice as high. The other move is the slide move, which will send Bolt sliding under obstacles. Later on, you can get a rocket launcher from the store and simply destroy any obstacles that are in your way, as well.
There are many different obstacles that Bolt will come across as he runs. Two of them are barrels and boxes. The normal, brown barrels look deadly, but they actually won’t do anything to you if you run into them. You can simply run through those if you would like. The red barrels and red boxes, though, are the dangerous ones. These ones are filled to the brim with explosives, and you don’t want anything to do with either one of them.
In addition to those, you will also have a pirate ship that appears every so often and tries to shoot at you. You have to jump over or slide under the cannonballs, or you’ll die and have to start over. Later on in runs, pirate hovercrafts will appear in your path as well. You know what to do with these by now.
