You can pick from one of 8 classes at the beginning. The highest-demand classes, due to the mechanics of the game and the nature of MMORPGs in general, will be the Guardian (AKA, the tank) and the Bard (AKA, the healer), so if you want to be included in tons of quests, pick those. However, no matter which class you are, you’ll still get included in a good amount of quests, because all eight of the classes have their own advantages.

Luring is something that’s unique to this game and is a way to clear dungeons extremely easily. This technique is why Guardians are so popular to have in a raid party. Have the Guardian scour the dungeon and draw enemies into running after them. Then when they have the whole mass of enemies chasing them, have them die and respawn at the beginning, or simply run back to the beginning. Then have the entire party crush the whole horde, especially AOE (area of effect) attackers such as Grenadiers, Wizards and Ravagers.

For leveling up, speed tends to be the most important offensive stat, with critical being second. Damage is a weak stat, so that’s last on the priority list for upgrades. For defense, the two most important stats, in equal measure, are HP and defense. Evasion is good, but it doesn’t do enough good per level to waste a stat point on it most of the time.

Pick your secondary class wisely. Any class can be used as a secondary class to any primary class. Your best bet is to pick a class that speeds up your cooldown time. Guardians are a bad second class because while they’re strong, they’re also extremely slow. Speeders such as the Duelist are best for cooldowns.

Eidolons are a companion that you can find in combat, and when you do find them, they will enable you to use special combo attacks in battle. Each eidolon can be upgraded with experience crystals, adding an even bigger boost to the one that they give you to begin with. Complete quests, especially in Skandia, in order to earn more eidolons and key fragments, which go toward keys to unlock more eidolons.
