Slices is a new puzzle game for the iOS and Android platforms where your goal is to places slices onto six different six-piece circles. You fill in the entire circle, and the whole thing disappears. The goal, of course, is to make it to the next level without running out of room with one of your slices, and the goals get harder as the levels go on. Read on for some tips and tricks for Slices!
Try not to leave two holes between slices on the same board, if at all possible. There are groups of one or two, or even three slices that come up at a time, and will appear on your “next slice” list. Place single slices next to each other, and if you can’t, then put a slice onto a new board if you won’t be able to attach it to another slice.
Concentrate on filling one circle at a time, though. Try not to let all of your circles get filled up, or you’ll end up with a logjam that will be tough to break with a single slice, and nearly impossible to break with multiple slices. Get a circle out of the way first, so that you can maximize the amount of mobile space that you have.
Once you clear out a circle, not only will all of the pieces disappear from the circle, but all of the pieces from the circles to either side of it will clear out also, and you’ll earn points for the pieces that you clear out from them. For example, you earn six points from the main circle, since it’s six pieces that clear out, so if you clear out four pieces from the circle to the left of it, you will earn another four points, and if the circle to the right of it has two pieces, you will earn another two points.
If you lose at a level, you can either start back over from where you began (but on the same level), or you can start with the progress that you already had by watching an advertisement video. The advantage to this is that the current piece and the upcoming piece will both change, so you have a good chance at finding something that actually works in one of your circles.
As you progress from level to level, the game continues to get tougher. There is, oddly, no way to go back to any of the levels that you have already beaten. The one way to do this is to delete the game, then download it again from the App Store or Google Play. Then, when you start back over, you will be all the way back to level one.
