Boom Beach – Tips and Tricks Guide: Hints, Cheats and Strategies

Boom Beach is the long awaited third mobile game from SuperCell Oy, whose first two releases (Clash of Clans and Hay Day) have become two of the most popular games on the App Store. Boom Beach is similar to Clash of Clans in appearance, but very different as far as the gameplay goes. It’s in a cartoonish military setting, and your goal is to explore a nearly endless island archipelago, raid enemy islands and rescue the villagers. Read on for some tips and tricks for Boom Beach!

Gold and wood are the two main resources of the game. There are countless ways to earn gold, mainly raiding other islands, collecting tributes from the villagers who you rescued, and from all of the residences on your islands (which can all be upgraded to earn you more gold). However, you can only build one single sawmill, period. That’s what all of the trees on your island are for. When you cut down a tree, you’ll gain wood, and not only is there an endless amount of trees, but they will regenerate over time, too, allowing you an endless source of quick wood.

Diamonds are the premium currency of the game, and while they are your usual in-app purchase, there’s plenty of opportunities to get them for free. Complete the achievements and then collect your rewards. Plus, you’ll find plenty of them inside of treasure chests as you go island hopping.

Your initial troops are riflemen, but as you upgrade your headquarters you’ll unlock heavies (level 2), zookas, warriors, tanks and medics. Heavies in particular are great for soaking up damage from guns, and should be the first in while your other troops (especially zookas) follow behind them. In general, though, it’s more important to use your gunship and your targeting of enemy buildings as the cornerstone of your strategy.

To win, you have to destroy the headquarters. Use your gunship’s energy to wreak havoc on enemy gun towers, and flares to direct your troops. With flares, you can also direct your troops to certain targets, even straight past enemy guns for a quick demolition of the headquarters (good strategy if you have already shot at the HQ with your gunship’s guns). Or if you want to make the gunship the cornerstone of your strategy, set your troops to target barrels and other easy-kill buildings, and use the energy that they earn for firing shots at the headquarters from the gunship.

Defensively, your most important strategy is to max out your defensive buildings (sniper towers, mortars, etc), and upgrade your headquarters so that you can build more and more of them, as well as upgrade them to higher levels. Put your buildings as close together as possible so that, to the highest possible degree, they are all in range of your defensive towers.

At first, if you are just starting out the game, you won’t be able to attack other players. However, keep upgrading your radar to get new islands, and spend your gold to unlock new areas. You’ll begin seeing other players’ islands as “Blackguard Mercenaries”.
