Your goal in this game, as in the previous one, is simply to build your city up as big as you can, earn as many coins and as much cash as possible, and repeat until your city is the biggest and richest around. Normally, it takes quite a bit of time to complete your buildings, especially later on in the game – early on, not so much. However, you can complete the buldings right away without having to spend anything to speed them up. Simply go to the date and time settings on your iPhone or iPad, then set the time ahead by the amount of time needed to complete the building. Then go back to City Island 2 and it will be complete.
After that, if you plan on doing this trick over and over, you’ll want to make sure that you don’t have the time on your device completely screwed up by doing the trick so much. To make that happen, go to the date and time settings and set the time right back to normal. Then go back to City Island 2, and the building/s that you just completed will still be there, ready to use.
You need to have roads next to your buildings in order for them to be useful, but the roads don’t have to be connected together. Maximize your space utilization by building only one single road and placing as many buildings around it as possible. This goes for walkways and canals, too, as they will activate any building that they touch.
Expand towards the rare buildings that you see on the map. For example, expand toward a hydroelectric station and you will be able to activate it once you reach it, in order to give your buildings more power. Expand toward the trade center and the currency exchange center, and you will be able to convert your cash into gold.
You can get free gold using methods other than the currency exchange building, though. Go to the in game store menu, or go to the “free gold” menu right when you begin playing City Island 2. Once you get to the free gold menu, you’ll see a wall of offers from Tapjoy that you can use to earn free gold. Most of the offers will be free to complete, and won’t require any personal information.
