How to play Guardian Cross for iOS: Walkthrough, FAQ and Beginner’s Guide

Welcome to the beginner’s guide to Guardian Cross for the iPhone and iPad! This new Square Enix game is a contender for the best original game that they have put out on the system so far, simply because it’s one of the first ones that’s a pure iOS game in every sense of the word. It’s a trading card battle game, but with the kind of storyline that’s normally reserved for a classic RPG. If you are new to the game, finding out more information, or just have some stuff that confuses you about the game, read on!

As the game starts off, you’ll be introduced to the story of the game, and thrown into your first adventure in the game. In the adventure mode, your goal is simply to tap every available battle, win them all, and then move onto the next part of the mode. The two main types of adventure stages are the dungeons and the towns. In towns, your goal will be to talk to the townspeople and gather information from them, and then battle them. In the dungeons, you’ll battle against a number of wild guardians, and your goal will be to defeat them all and to move onto the next level of the dungeon.

In dungeon mode, you’ll also see a button on the right side of the screen that says ‘map’. If you tap this button, you’ll see a list of all of the floors of the dungeon, including which floor the boss is on (the last floor), and which floors have treasure chests on them, as well as which of the floors you are currently on. Treasure chests contain either an item (such as a hunting ticket or a coliseum ticket, or Guardian Points). Once you beat the boss floor, you’ll move on to the next area.

Your team of guardians will consist of up to 10 Guardians. The way to get guardians is by going to the hunting range (hitting the ‘hunt’ button) and tapping on the guardians to shoot them. If you shoot them enough to where you drain their energy, they will become your guardians. Guardians range from 1 star (common) to 5 stars (super rare). The main hunting ranges consist of 1-star to 3-star guardians, while the special hunting ranges consist of 3-star to 5-star guardians.
