Merging the jelly together is pretty simple, but there are different colors of jelly and different colors cannot merge together, so you have to wait until jelly of the same color comes down in order to do the mix. The first mix is bronze jelly, the second is silver, the third is gold, and so on and so forth. Deeper and deeper merges lead to more expensive jelly.
There is a bar on the top right corner of the screen that fills up when you sell your jelly, and when it fills up, you will be able to watch an advertisement video in exchange for double the selling price. Try to use a more expensive type of jelly to fill this bar, so that you can get more cash for the same advertisement video, as compared to using a cheaper jelly.
Every once in a while you will be able to spin to win a prize after merging jelly. take this spin every time; even though the game gives you the option to reject it, you can spin for free every time without having to watch any advertisement videos, so it would be pointless to reject it, and often you can end up with a premium jelly for free. You do have the option to increase your prize by watching an advertisement video, but by no means are you required to do this.
If you want to go fully ad-free, then you can do so for free by playing the game in airplane mode with all of the data turned off. If you do this, then the advertisements will not be able to load, so you won’t have to see them.
