One of the primary strategies for deck-building is to have a good balance of ranged troops and melee troops. Send your tanks in to soak up damage. Put your archers and ballistas behind them and they can dole out massive quantities of damage without having to take any damage. Use bombs wisely, as well. They’re great not only for blowing up small, high-damage troops, but for taking big chunks of hit points out of the castle as well.
Whenever you win a battle, you get a chest, which contains coins and character cards. If you get a new card, you’ll unlock that character, and if you get cards for a character that you already have, you will be able to upgrade them in exchange for coins. Plus, if you have more than six characters, you can start modifying your deck.
Even when your chest slots are full and you are waiting for awhile to unlock things, keep battling. If you win six battles, then you fill up the notches to get that blue chest. The blue chest contains rarer rewards than most of the ones that you earn after each battle, and you can open it instantly, too.
Hit the store if you want to scout out some rare cards, or just to get the one more than you might need for an upgrade. Some cost coins, while some cost gems. Gems might be rare, and are mostly earned by IAPs, but you can earn free gems at times too, such as from epic or rare chests.
