Mars: Mars is a new endless space exploration game for the iOS and Android platforms. Your goal in this game is to explore Mars as an astronaut for MarsCorp, but because of budget constraints, you’re exploring with very little fuel and lousy jetpacks. As you move from platform to platform you can unlock even more characters. Read on for some tips and tricks for Mars: Mars!
One odd glitch that pops up in the game is that if you load it for the first time in an area with a bad internet connection, the graphics for the ships won’t download. To get them to download, delete the app and then reinstall it. Wait until you are in an area with a good connection and then try to play it again.
Playing effectively requires good control of your thrusters. If you want to move up rapidly, rapidly alternate between left and right thrusters. Holding both sides down at the same time uses more fuel but makes you go up a little more quickly. It is good for when you want to slowly land on a platform as it can reverse a drop more quickly.
When starting off, hit the left side of the screen only to get your character flying in the right direction for the next platform. To save fuel, coast as much as possible until you get close to the platform. Once you approach the platform, use your thrusters to slow down the descent, just enough so that you can land without crashing.
Watch the lights on the platforms for an indicator of how your landing is going to go. A yellow light means that you are descending slowly enough as to be on track for a safe landing. When it starts flashing red, that’s a warning that you are descending too quickly and are headed for a crash if you don’t slow down.
Combo achievements are one of the best ways to earn coins. You earn them when you successfully jump across multiple platforms in a row without crashing – first six, then 12, 24, 60, 120 and 360 jumps in a row. Each combo bonus will earn you coins, and the coins can then be used to purchase and unlock new characters.
