Chopping can be a slow and tedious process, but there are ways to speed it up. Right from the beginning, you can speed up the animation significantly by hitting the shot button twice instead of once. You will still only use up one chop; the second chop merely serves to speed up the first chop.
After you complete enough of the progress quest, you will unlock the ability to auto chop. Simply hit the auto button and your character will start chopping on their own. There will also be options that are unlocked later in the game, including the ability to chop at double speed and use two or three chops per turn.
Your gauge on whether you should keep or sacrifice a piece of equipment will be whether it increases or decreases your total CP. Even if your attack, defense, and other individual stats increase, your overall CP may decrease if your original piece of equipment is extra rare or has a special ability to it. Go by the overall CP rating in order to become as powerful as possible.
There are tons of bonuses and rewards to collect, as well as various quest completion rewards, so track the red dots in order to find and collect all of them. You can earn tons of free Jade and Peaches my collecting these rewards. Jade is the premium currency of the game, which you normally have to spend real money for, while Peaches serve as the energy in this game, allowing you to execute more chops.
The adventure mode allows you to compete in battles against rivals, and if you win, you move onto the next level of Mount Canglang. The battles happen automatically and there is no strategy to them other than having the best equipment, so if you lose, simply go back to the tree, increase your CP, and then try the fight again.
Hit the challenge mode for all sorts of other types of battles. The dual works similarly to the adventure mode, except that you will fight against other players. Many other challenges can be unlocked such as the Demon King, Beast Invasion, Demon Pagoda, Skyward Ascent, and Secret Realms, all of which have different modes of play and increasingly rare and valuable rewards.
The level of the equipment that you pick up tends to max out at your current player level, but in order to get more rare equipment, you’re going to want to upgrade your divine tree. You need Spiritstones in order to do that, which can be acquired by chopping the tree, so rack up the Spiritstones by doing as much chopping as absolutely possible, and earning more peaches so that you can chop even more.
