When your cast your line, gently pull it a little bit until a fish bites. When a fish bites, you have a few different methods of attack to reel it in. You can tap and hold the screen, or if you are fighting against a tougher fish, do short taps over and over so that you can battle the fish without instantly snapping your line. Swiping sideways to pull the rod sideways is your third move.
Be sure to continuously upgrade your fishing rod. Your most important upgrade is to your attack power, as it keeps your line from snapping as easily. Upgrade your reel, your line and your cast distance in order to add support to your attack, but your attack is always the most valuable upgrade as it increases the possibilities of fish sizes that you can catch.
Once you catch a new type of fish, it goes into that level’s museum, and the museum earns you coins whenever you come back online after some time of being offline. You’ll have the option to double coins by watching a free ad video. If you have any sort of connection at all whatsoever, then take this option. If not, then either get somewhere where you can, or accept the standard prize.

Bucks are the premium currency of the game. If you want to get more bucks for free without having to spend any real life money, then your best bet is to go to the bottom of the IAP store’s “Bucks” screen, until you get to the free button. Hit that button and the TapJoy offer wall will open up. Hit the offer wall and find as many free offers as you can in order to earn as many free bucks as you can.
Different fish earn you different types of stars, so if you get bored of the standard quest checklist, then go to the various areas of the current lake/river/sea and catch all of the available fish types that you can find, enough times so that you can get a new star. Continue this until you have enough stars to unlock the next level.
