PLANK! is a new casual game for the iOS and Android platforms by Kwalee, a company run by the founder of the legendary game developer Codemasters. In this game, you have to try to build a plank to the next platform, but it can’t be too short or too long, or you’ll fall off the next part of the stage. You can win prizes, unlock new characters, and use hints to fight for a new high score. Read on for some tips and tricks for PLANK!
All of the new platforms will appear to be the same distance away, but the way to figure out how long to build your plank is by looking at the perspective. If the screen is zoomed out, then you’ll have to build a longer plank. If the screen is zoomed in, however, the plank will have to be shorter, or you will end up walking past the platform.
Your goal is to center the plank right on the platform, but if it’s not perfectly centered, you’ll still make it, although you will earn less points. The best score that you can get is a “perfect”, although you can get a great or a good, as well. The higher the score, the more points you get for making it to the next platform.
At an early point in the level, if you have a data connection, a video offer will pop up, offering you three measuring tapes. The offer doesn’t go away, so wait until later in the level, when the platforms start getting smaller. The higher your score, the tougher the platforms will get, so wait until you are about 80% of the way to your all-time top score to use the video offer.
There is no currency system in the game, but there are all kinds of free prizes to unlock. The prizes consist of new characters. They don’t affect how the game is played, but they do allow you a degree of customization. Some are common, some are rare, and some are of even higher rarities. The more rare that a character is, the more infrequent that they will be to come by when you open a prize.
The ads can be a bit much in the game sometimes. The best solution to this is to buy the ad-free in-app purchase, which will get rid of all ads except for the ones that you choose (e.g. watching a video for free tape measures). You can also set your phone into airplane mode, which will get rid of all of the involuntary ads, but it will disable all of the free offers, too.
