There are multiple types of summons in this game, which can be purchased with either coins, gems or scrolls. The gems and scroll summons are the most lucrative as they can often earn you rare and super rare 3, 4 and 5-star heroes. These summons are on a timer, and they will go free every so often (except for the scrolls summons) so keep checking back for free items, character tokens, and characters.
The main method of upgrading your character, besides leveling them up in battle, is using the exp potions to level them up quickly. Save at least a few potions so that when you get a new rare character who is at level 1, you can get them caught up quickly. If you don’t have any, then take the new character back to some older, easier levels to give them easy fights for experience gains.
The other primary upgrade method is upgrading your abilities. Your abilities can be upgraded by spending coins, and the max level of each of them is equivalent to the max level of your player. Keep a small stash of coins around not only for level-ups, but so that when you ascend a fighter, you’ll be able to upgrade any new skills that they learn right away.
To ascend a fighter, you will need to find specific types of Evo, which are little blob monsters with very weak attacks that are usually killed in one hit. Shoot them first, then when you collect enough of them, check out your ascent requirements for each character in your active party, so that you can keep track of which ones are eligible to use them for ascension.
