Speaking of advertisements, one of the biggest annoyances about this game is the fact that ads will pop up constantly in the middle of playing the game. One option to make those advertisements go away is to put your phone or tablet into airplane mode, or shut off the Wi-Fi and cellular data. This will cause the ads to stop appearing, because the ads require the Internet in order to load.
However, if you go this route, then you will not be able to watch any of the voluntary advertisements that allow you to earn bonuses. In order to get the best of both worlds, make an in app purchase to unlock add a free mode; the involuntary forced ads will go away, but the voluntary optional ads will stick around so that you can still get those bonuses.
You get a ranking between one and three stars depending on how much grass you cut down on a specific level. If you cut down all of the grass, then you will earn a three star ranking, plus you will get free diamonds, which are the premium currency of the game, and can normally only be earned by making an in app purchase.
However, all it takes is a minimum of one star in order to move to other areas on the map. When you get one star on your current level, then you will be able to unlock the next level for more lucrative grass.

For each new color of grass that you find, it will be harder to cut through and require more power from your mower and its blades, but the grass will be worth more. This is why it can be tempting to go to new areas on the map before you get three stars on the old area. The tougher the grass is to cut, the more coins you earn when you sell it.
This is where the advantage of skipping ahead to new levels quickly comes in. You can make a lot of money very quickly in order to upgrade your mower quickly. Once your mower becomes more powerful, then you will be able to go back to older levels and cut through the grass rapidly in order to earn your three stars.
There are a number of different boosts that appear on each level, such as the infinite power boost, wide blades, or the magnet. At first, these will be completely free, but later on, you will have to watch an advertisement video in order to enable them. You can also choose to spend diamonds in order to enable them, but considering that this is only temporary, this is generally considered a waste of diamonds.
Instead, save the diamonds so that you can unlock an entirely new mower. The new mower will have a better base stats than all of the other ones, and this boost will be permanent, making the purchase worth it compared to the temporary power ups.
The trolley is another boost that can be unlocked the same way, either by watching advertisement videos or spending diamonds. The trolley allows you to sell grass without having to go all the way back to your headquarters. It has much more of an impact if you have not gone ad-free, yet.
